Day 62: Back from Oxegen, Bet Ruined

Awoke from my Oxegen-induced knackeredness to find the World Cup 35 minutes in and find 5 yellow cards thrown out by the English ref Webb. One should have been a red but not really certain sure about the others. Of course with the absence of England in the final the pundits have been reduced to stubborningly dancing around any ‘the ref is shite’ viewpoints instead.

Never thought I’d say this but sorry to see the Germans go out last night. Perhaps inevitably through this tournament they finally met a team with greater ability but more importantly were also playing somewhere approaching their full potential. The Spanish went through deservedly and will be favourites to win their first World Cup on Sunday.
